Painting levels

  • Best for Large armies, bulk orders, or strict budgets

This is the fastest and most affordable option, focused purely on getting color onto the model.

    • Basic basecoats only

    • No shading, highlights, or detailing

    • No basing

    • Minimal cleanup beyond priming

The result is similar to factory pre-painted miniatures—functional, readable on the table, but not visually striking up close.

  • Best for: Budget-conscious players who still want some depth

A step up using the popular “slapchop” method for quick contrast and definition.

    • Basecoats with light drybrushing or contrast-style shading

    • Limited highlights

    • Minimal detailing

    • No or very basic basing

This gives you solid tabletop quality with visible depth, without the cost of full detailing. Great for armies where you want them to look good—but not spend heavily per model.

  • Best for: Most customers, balanced quality and price

This is the baseline for a clean, professional finish that looks great both on the table and in photos.

    • Basecoats + washes for shading and depth

    • Targeted highlights on key areas

    • Clean, readable details

    • Simple basing

    • Sealed with protective varnish

This level delivers that “this looks really good” reaction without pushing into display-level pricing. It’s where quality and efficiency meet.

  • Best for: Centerpieces, characters, and display-adjacent models

Here’s where the model starts to stand out—not just on the table, but when you pick it up.

    • Everything in Level 3, with:

    • Stronger highlights and smoother transitions

    • Sharper edge work and improved contrast

    • Full attention to smaller details (faces, accessories, textures)

    • Upgraded basing

    • Protective varnish

This tier holds up well under close inspection and is ideal for models you want to showcase in your collection.

  • Best for: Display pieces, collectors, and competition-level work

This is the highest level of craftsmanship we offer—focused on artistry, precision, and uniqueness.

    • Everything in Level 4, plus:

    • Advanced techniques (blending, glazing, NMM, OSL where appropriate)

    • Custom freehand designs, symbols, or patterns

    • Maximum attention to detail across the entire model

    • Optional upgraded or custom basing

This is true showcase quality—the kind of piece you’d expect to see in a display cabinet or painting competition.

We’ve standardized our painting process into five clear tiers so every piece meets consistent quality across our team and so you can choose exactly the level that fits your needs and budget.

Every level includes proper cleaning, preparation, and priming. As you move up the tiers, you’re paying for increased time, precision, and artistic detail.

Level 3 is our most popular option!

It strikes the best balance between quality and cost for most tabletop players.

Sometimes large figures cannot be shipped assembled, otherwise, all figures are shipped glued and assembled.

Brian handled this one and you can tell he took his time with it. It doesn’t feel rushed at all. It’s not quite a ‘competition piece,’ but it’s way closer to that than typical tabletop work. Definitely worth stepping up to Level 4 for something like this.

Got a mix of Level 2 and Level 3 for a campaign set and the difference is exactly what they described. Level 2 is great for bulk, but Level 3 really stands out. Glad I split it that way.

I ordered a Level 3 Mistress bust and honestly didn’t expect them to look this clean. The shading and highlights pop way more in person than I thought they would. Cathy absolutely nailed it.
